Meet our Instructors!

Mary Beck

Biography
I was introduced to yoga with my husband, Jim in 2002. This was our first winter in Florida and my love of the practice was so evident that I was asked to teach after the instructor left the following year. I delved deeper in the practice, studying on my own. Then the tragedy of my husbands sudden death brought a sadness that is hard to explain to this day. I knew I needed to find a way forward on my own. I spent a weekend at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. It changed my life. I found support of the teacher and other yogi’s. From that point on, I practiced, studied and became a certified RYT teacher in 2011. Since then I have had training in Yoga Nidra, Yin and Restorative Yoga, Meditation, and Reiki. Most recently I have been certified as a National Qigong Association Teacher. Qigong is sometimes called a moving meditation and has elements of all these holistic practices and more. Through the years, as I have discovered these practices, I was always trying to find ways to help my sister, Emily, cope with the aftermath of a traumatic brain injury. We tried many styles and I learned to speak slowly, use simple words and realized that “less” is always better. I sincerely believe there is a holistic practice for everyone and I like to provide a safe and nurturing environment for my students to find their practice and inner peace.
